Assam health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Maulana Badruddin Ajmal have been in a war of words for the past few days. In the most recent incident, Sarma blasted Ajmal after the latter said that he would organize a party meeting at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra.

Speaking to the media the health minister said, “During CAA movement Ajmal and his party tried destroying Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra.  Then they came up with the idea of setting a Miya Museum. And now, Ajmal is ready to organize a party meeting at Kalakshetra. Somehow, the idea of being in Kalakshetra has gone into the brains of these Miyas.”

“A few days ago, Bordua was in their minds, but now Kalakshetra has taken the place of Bordua in their heads. And if we don’t control these Miya leaders very soon not only Kalakshetra or Bordua but also the Maa Kamakhya Devalaya will be taken over by them”, Sarma added.

The minister also lambasted Badruddin Ajmal by saying that it is his motherland and his soil.

“This is my motherland and my country. I can do whatever I feel like doing. If Ajmal wants to do such things he can go back to his motherland and do whatever he wants to. He has no right to give me any kind of advice regarding my motherland”, Sarma said.
