Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) on Friday created history by becoming the first government medical college in the country to successfully carry out Thrombolysis within three hours of a stroke by doing a CT scan inside a mobile van. The patient was 65 years old and had suffered an acute stroke.
It’s the first time a government medical college carried out such a procedure, Dr. Sanjeeb Kakati, Principal cum chief superintendent, AMCH stated.
“The patient, a worker from a nearby tea garden, reached the hospital within two hours of the stroke. The doctors provided treatment to the patient in less than 30 minutes saving his life,” Dr. Kataki further added.
