In a pilot raid carried out by several district police of Assam, a total of 11 people from the districts of
Morigaon, Barpeta, Guwahati, and Goalpara have been detained on suspicion of being Jihadi linkman.
As per sources, the detained individuals are suspected to have links with Islamic fundamentalism and
have ties to global terror organisations such as Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) and
Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT).
This development comes in just 24 hours where earlier an individual identified as Abbas Ali was arrested
from Goalpara yesterday, for allegedly sheltering a notorious ABT sleeper cell terrorist from Bangladesh
in his home.
The investigating team is on the lookout for the ABT sleeper cell terrorist identified as Mehboob, who
arrived in Assam in December, and who is suspected to be active in the state.
