On Wednesday night, an Assam Police team arrested “self-styled” Ayurvedic and home remedies expert Pankaj Pathak in the Barpeta district’s Howly. He was arrested for making derogatory remarks about a female scribe in Guwahati.
Journalist Rosy Sharma filed the FIR in response to comments made by Pathak about her on social media. Following Pathak’s objectionable comments on social media, several complaints were reportedly filed across the state, and an arrest warrant was issued on him.
The police raided his factories in Nalbari’s Tihu as the demand for him grew, but he was said to be absconding. Pathak was later arrested by police in Howly on Wednesday night, according to reports.
The police have yet to issue an official statement on the entire case. According to reports, Pankaj Pathak was arrested on the orders of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
