Assam Police on Friday apprehended one Joy Chandra Gogoi from Bordumsa in the Tinsukia district for the murder of a 46-year-old BJP leader Devananda Gogoi belonging from the same place.
Gogoi, the president of BJP’s Dumduma-Nagaon booth committee under Margherita LAC, was allegedly stabbed by the accused on Thursday while he was gardening in the backyard of his residence.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal condoled the incident on Twitter. Responding to the CM’s tweet, Special DGP G.P. Singh wrote that the accused Joy Chandra Gogoi has been arrested and efforts were being made to recover the murder weapon.
Sir, the accused Joy Chandra Gogoi resident of the same village has been arrested and effort is being made to recover dagger used in offence. Further investigation is continuing.
