Situated at the Southside of the Assam-Meghalaya border at the Garo foothills, the lake was formed during the 1897 massive earthquake.
The lake is also a utopia for many species of migratory birds during the winter season.
Earlier in 2020, the festival was canceled in the wake of the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
