Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s security has been raised by the Centre from a ‘Z’ category cover in the North-Eastern area to a ‘Z+’ category across all across India.
He will now receive “Z+” level security from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), which is already providing him with “Z” category security.
The decision to upgrade CM Sarma’s current ‘Z’ category CRPF security cover in the North-Eastern region to ‘Z+’ category CRPF security cover on an all India basis was made after the security arrangement for him was reviewed in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in consultation with the Central Security Agency, according to reports.
According to the Z+ security protocol, more than 50 commandos would travel with the Assam chief minister throughout the nation.
CM Sarma received a CRPF security cover of the “Z” category in 2017, which was sponsored by the state.
