Assam: CM Hands Over FD Certificates to Surrendered ULFA Members

Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday handed over fixed deposit (FD) certificates to 52 former United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) militants who had surrendered in 2019. All the 52 ULFA militants surrendered at Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Charaideo, and Sivasagar district.

The handing over of the FD certificates of Rs. four lakhs each was done during the inauguration of the newly built building of the Makum Police Station in Tinsukia district under the Mission for Overall Improvement of Thana for Responsive Image (MOITRI) scheme.

Under the MOITRI scheme, the state government aims to modernize the police force and making Assam Police smart. The Assam government will also develop the infrastructure of all the police stations in the state with state-of-the-art buildings. The scheme also aims in fostering the relationship between the police and the public.
