News Desk: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inspected erosion caused by the Kundil river on July 31. Kundil river is located on NH 37 in Sadiya. Sarbananda Sonowal also took stock of work done by the Water Resource Department and local administration to mitigate the danger.
The Kundil river has changed its shape and has taken a devastating form. The change in shape is due to continuous erosion due to floods. The bridge over the Kundil river and the road are also facing danger. This bridge connects Assam with Arunachal Pradesh. The CM gave responsibility to Assam Water Resources Department to secure the bridge over the Kundil river. The Water Resources Department constructed a dam to prevent erosion of the Kundil river.
CM Sarbananda Sonowal thanked the officials of WRD and Navyug Company for their constant hard work.
Sonowal was accompanied by several BJP leaders. Sadiya MLA Bolin Chetia and Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sharma accompanied Sarbananda Sonowal. Digboi MLA Suren Phukan followed the CM of Assam.
The CM of Assam also spoke to the media after inspecting the Kundil river.
“The erosion caused by the Kundil river on NH 37 in Sadiya. Had posed a threat to disrupt communication between Assam & neighboring states. However timely measures by WR Dept and local admin has mitigated the danger.
Today, visited the site and also took stock of works.” The CM stated in his tweet.
