The residence of an ex-army man was barged into and looted by a group of 20-armed dacoits late Tuesday night at around 1:30 am in the Kalain town of Cachar district of Assam.
The dacoits not only robbed all the cash and ornaments but also reportedly assaulted the residents. The group fled after running a ruckus in the house for about an hour.
However, on their way out villagers gathered outside the house which rattled the group and they opened fire. The firing resulted in injuries to 15 people.
The ex-army man, Azi Uddin, his family members, neighbours, and a minor were injured in the incident and have been admitted to Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
