Assam Elections: BJP+ Leads in 64 Seats Based on Latest Trends

The counting votes of the much-awaited Assam assembly elections are going on.  The counting started at 7 a.m. in the various strong rooms across the state. The counting is going on in full swing under tight security and with strict adherence to COVID protocols.

The fate of 941 candidates will be decided in 126 constituencies of the state today.

Currently first round of counting is going on.

Based on the latest trends at 11:01 am, the political parties are leading in the following number of seats (status known for 94 out of 126 constituencies):

BJP+: 64

Congress+: 29

AJP: 0

Others: 1

Meanwhile,  Sarbananda Sonowal who is contesting from the Majuli constituency is leading by 5500 votes.  Himanta Biswa Sarma leads by 5000 votes in Jalukbari. BJP candidate from Dispur Atul Bora is leading by 1216 votes. BJP’s Parmananda Rajbognshi is leading 1247 votes in Sipajhar. BJP candidate from Kaligaon Madhu Ram Deka leads by 1753. Nagaon’s BJP candidate Rupak Sarma leads by 6000 votes. AIUDF candidate Mojibur Rehman is leading by 4005 votes in Dalgaon. Key Congress candidates Ripun Bora, Debabrata Saikia and Rupjyoti Kurmi are trailing from their respective constituencies.
