After a tough fight, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will form government in Assam after it attained majority in the assembly elections.
NDA has won a total of 75 seats out of the 126 seats in Assam, while the Congress-led Grand Alliance ‘Mahajot’ could manage to acquire 50 seats.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged as the single largest party after winning 60 seats. Congress grabbed a total of 29 seats and its allies AIUDF, BPF and CPI (M) could manage 16, 4 and 1 seats respectively. Meanwhile, BJP’s allies AGP, UPPl won 9 and 6 seats respectively. Newly formed regional party Raijor Dal won 1 seat while AJP could not open its account
