News Desk: The COVID-19 positive cases in Assam have been rising very abruptly.
On Tuesday, the state recorded the highest single-day spike of 1680 COVID-19 positive cases which includes 570 cases from Guwahati alone. 167 positive cases from Jorhat and 159 cases from Cachar. The previous highest single-day spike of 1,218 cases in the North-Eastern state was reported on July 17.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in Assam has reached the 26,000 mark. Till July 22 midnight, the total number of Coronavirus positive cases had reached a total of 26,772, out of which 8,672 are COVID-19 active cases.

On Tuesday, the state endured six more deaths which increased the death toll due to COVID-19 in Assam to a total of 64. Among the six dead, four are women, and two each are from Kamrup Metropolitan and Kamrup Rural along with one each from Darrang and Dibrugarh districts.
