Assam Floods: 36 villages inundated as of now

The first wave of floods in the State has made its impact felt by inundating 36 villages, breaching four embankments, and damaging embankments and RCC bridges in the State.

An official statement released mentioned that there has been no loss of life and livestock.

Besides that, around 30,000 people of the 36 villages in Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, and Majuli districts have been affected by this wave of the deluge. Three embankments have been breached – two in Biswanath Chariali district and one in Nalbari district. Two other embankments have been damaged at Kalaigaon and Singhimari in the Udalguri district. A road each has been damaged in Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Dhemaji, and Nalbari districts.

An RCC bridge has been damaged at Harisingha and Dhekiabari in the Uldaguri district. While erosion has been reported from Baksa, Barpeta, Biswanath, Nalbari, and Goalpara districts; incidents of landslides have been reported from a few places in Dima Hasao district.
