Agreement

In an effort to establish a direction for the state’s long-term development, the Assam government signed seven Memoranda of Understanding and Agreement (MoU, MoA) with various industry participants on Monday in Guwahati, in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

It should be highlighted that the Assam Skill Development Mission (ASDM) engaged into agreements on behalf of the government with Microsoft, Google India, Larsen & Toubro Limited, and the HealthCare Sector Skill Council.

Furthermore, the Directorate of Employment and Craftsmen Training signed an agreement with Info Edge (India) Private Limited, also known as Naukri.com, and the Assam Tourism Development Corporation signed an agreement with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, TATA Strive Skill Development Initiatives of Tata Community Initiative Trust, and the Indian Hotels Company Limited. APDCL also struck an agreement with Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam’s Green Energy Limited to generate 1000 MW of solar power.

It should also be highlighted that the MoU with Microsoft will open the door for young capacity building in Assam Skill Development Centres around the state.

Microsoft’s MDSP (Microsoft Diversity Skilling Programme) modules will provide intervention for underserved kids to ensure their active engagement in the workforce.

This programme will provide adolescents with the skills needed to flourish in a digital economy.

Moreover, the MoU with Google India Private Ltd. aims to assist the government of Assam in equipping youngsters with job-ready digital and business skills.

The best element of this arrangement is that Google Career Certificate Course will connect skilled kids to work opportunities through a cohort of potential companies.

Furthermore, as part of the MoU with the Government of Assam, L&T will provide knowledge and support for the establishment of a training setup and the execution of green field projects in the construction sector.

The agreement with the Healthcare Sector Skill Council (HSSC) aims to organise Assam’s unemployed youth for skill training.

In addition to skilling unemployed youngsters, placement for industrial positions will be provided within one month after training completion.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Directorate of Employment and Craftsmen Training and Info Edge (India) Private Limited, better known as Naukri.com, would provide an online platform for unemployed youth to upload their profile on the digital domain in order to attract prospective employers.

The MoU between APDCL and SJVNL Green Energy Limited (SGEL) will also strive to create renewable power projects, specifically solar power with a capacity of 1000 MW.

The Memorandum of Understanding signed between Assam Tourism Development Corporation, TATA Strive Skill Development Initiatives, and others would also establish a hospitality skill centre of excellence for the training of the state’s young.

Speaking on the occasion, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma described the signing of the MoUs as a historic event because the agreements would aid in leveraging the state’s potential in renewable energy, skill development, tourism, and hospitality industries.

He further stated that the MoUs would assist the state in realising the dream of a developed Assam, in keeping with the Prime Minister’s objective of transforming the North East into a New Engine of Growth.

According to the Assam Chief Minister, it is a red letter day for the state of Assam because APDCL has signed into an agreement with Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Green Energy Limited (SGEL) to build renewable electricity projects.

He stated that the government’s development-focused approach has resulted in an investment-friendly ecosystem.

He stated that in light of the state’s shift from fossil fuel to green fuel, the Assam cabinet has adopted the Assam Renewable Energy Policy 2022 to promote the growth of renewable energy in the state.
