Assam: The Health Department has started conducting random COVID-19 tests across the State. It has targeted to conduct 1 lakh tests every day and the drive will continue till Wednesday.

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted “I am in awe of my team for having relentlessly done an incredible job- be it of containment, communication or tracing and tracking. Today itself they carried out 1,20,228 tests.”

During testing, one, who will be found positive will be traced by another testing of 10 persons and another 10 persons from his/her workplace or as identified by him/her. Thus, a total of 20 people will be traced and tested and treated, as per need.

In a landmark, Assam’s health department was able to conduct 1.2 lakh COVID-19 tests on September 28. The rise in the number of tests is part of an ongoing drive to conduct more than 1 lakh tests in a single day.
