A massive fire broke out in the Jorhat district of Assam on Saturday morning. Even though no casualties have been reported as of now, at least 30 houses were gutted by the fire. The incident took place as people were outside their homes to celebrate Chhath Puja.
The fire broke at the Harijan Colony on Raja Maidam Road in Jorhat and gradually engulfed a large residential compound in the area.
According to reports, the fire was intensified by the explosion of 8 cooking gas cylinders.
Firefighters were successful in dousing the fire.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
