In a tragic incident, an election officer died at Salkathoni polling station in the Sonari constituency of Assam in the midst of the ongoing first phase of the state Assembly polls.
The officer identified as Tulsi Khanikar was appointed at 187 No polling station.
Khanikar was rushed to Dibrugarh immediately as his health suddenly deteriorated but the officer died on the way to the hospital.
