The Guwahati Police and Basistha Police in a joint operation busted an IPL (Indian Premier League) betting gang. The Police have arrested two bookies who are allegedly involved in the case.
The bookies identified as Ravi and Rinku were picked up from a grocery shop called ‘New Grocery” in Guwahati’s Basistha area. Based on a tip-off, the investigation team found out about alleged IPL betting in the shop and conducted a raid. The team also recovered some cash and objectionable documents.
Meanwhile, Bongaigaon Police on Sunday recovered a total amount of Rs. 5, 30,000 from two bookies. One bookie was arrested along with Rs. 2, 71,600 in cash while the other managed to escape.
IPL 2020 started on September 19 and is set to end on November 10.
