An Assam Police Sub-Inspector Dipjyoti Das was arrested on Tuesday for demanding Rs. 1 lakh bribe in Assam’s Dibrugarh district. Das was posted at the Tengakhat police station and had demanded a civilian with the bribe.
He was arrested by the officer-in-charge of the same police station where he is posted. According to sources, Das demanded the bribe in connection to a POCSO case.
Last month, two police officers Satyajit Borthakur, officer-in-charge of Gauripur PS, and his subordinate Abu Kalam Azad, an ASI rank officer were also arrested for taking a bribe of Rs. 1 lakh.
In a tweet, Assam Police ADGP (Law and Order), GP Singh said, “Sub-Inspector Dipjyoti Das of Tengakhat Police Station of Dibrugarh district has been arrested for demanding and receiving INR 1 Lac from a civilian. The said amount has been recovered from his possession. Follow up action is going on. @CMOfficeAssam @DGPAssamPolice @assampolice.”
