Assam Polls: 81 Lakh People to Vote in the First Phase

A total of 81,09,815 voters will get their right to vote during the first phase of the Assam assembly polls on March 27. There are 40,77,210 males; 40,32,481 females and 124 transgenders, as mentioned in the latest data of the Election Department, Assam.

The first phase of the polls will be conducted in 11,537 polling stations across 47 LACs (Legislative Assembly Constituencies) spread over 12 districts of upper and middle Assam. The districts are- Biswanath Chariali, Charaideo, Dibrugarh, Dhemaji, Golaghat, Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Nagaon, Sibsagar, Sonitpur, and Tinsukia.

Jonai LAC (Legislative Assembly Constituency) in Dhemaji district has the maximum number of 3,11,660 voters. Of them, 1,58,206 are males, 1,53,453 females and one transgender. On the other hand, Thowra LAC in the Sibsagar district has the lowest number of 1,15,364 voters. Of them, 58,368 are males, 56, 995 females and one transgender.
