Students of Cotton University on Thursday organized a protest in the form of display of placards to support the aim of re-opening the University and its hostels.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the hostels of Cotton University was used as Quarantine centres for COVID patients.
The quarantine centres were lifted up two months ago, however, the state government has still not taken any steps to sanitize the centres.
Earlier, Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the re-opening of hostels in Cotton College.
The students have organized the protest demanding few developments from the state government:
1. Full sanitization of the hostel premises.
2. Since practical classes of a few departments have already stated, the accommodation of students till the re-opening of hostels is much needed.
3. When the hostels were used as quarantine centres, many items of the hostels were damaged by the patients. A proper investigation is much required.
