The Guwahati High Court on Wednesday rejected the bail plea of Kumar Sanjit Krishna, one of the prime accused in the Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment scam of Assam Police.
During the bail plea hearing, the advocate of the accused Sanjit Krishna cited that the former SP must be granted bail as he is suffering from nerve problems and also that he surrendered himself to the police.
Objecting to the bail plea, the state government’s public prosecutor stated that accused Kumar Sanjit was the mastermind behind the SI Exam paper leak.
However, his bail plea was rejected by the Guwahati HC Judge Ajit Borthakur. He also rejected the bail pleas of Hirokjyoti Baruah, Papumoni Nath, Jitu Mikir, Anuwar Ali, Dilip Gogoi, Priyonath Gogoi, Mrinal Kumar Nath, Kumud Chandra Goswami, and Jugmi Brahma.
The HC also rejected the anticipatory bail pleas of Dhrubojyoti Baruah and Arup Haloi.
Earlier the SI Examination held on September 20 created a huge upheaval all across the state due to a question paper leak. This further led to the unearthing of the massive SI Exam Scam.
Several top Assam Police officials were also involved in the SI Exam Scam including DIG PK Dutta and SP Kumar Sanjit Krishna.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been continuing its investigation over the SI Exam Scam.
