Assam’s tableau has been shortlisted for the Republic Day parade to be held in the national capital on January 26 this year.
Assam’s tableau will be on the theme ‘Assam tea- backbone of India’s economy.’ The Assam tableau will showcase the state’s tea garden, tea workers’ culture, and other related aspects of the tea industry.
Cultural Affairs Commissioner & Secretary Preetom Saikia said that the design, being made by a firm Image Creations, will be finalized on January 9.
Preetom Saikia said, “The idea is to depict a tea garden, activities associated with it, including the cultural side such as a jhumoor dance. Due to COVID protocol, the number of participants will be restricted.”
