Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during a press meet at Janata Bhawan on Friday announced that Assam will get the Largest Medical College of the Country.
This will be the second medical college in the State. The hospital will be set up in Mahendra Mohan Choudhury (MMC) hospital and Kalapahar Covid hospital.
In Mahendra Mohan Choudhury (MMC) hospital there is an 8th floor super speciality wing building will be started. It will cost approx 860 crore rupees in the first stage.
The State Finance Minister mentioned that there will be three flyovers between MMC and Kalapahar to reduce distance.
Sarma also stated Assam is all set to welcome Union Home Minister Amit Shah who is arriving in Guwahati on Friday night.
Over 10,000 earthen lamps and a human chain of over 3000 people will welcome the central leader to Guwahati.
A grand meeting site has been set up in Amingaon, North Guwahati. Security has been tightened at the venue and in and around Guwahati. Home Minister Shah’s programmes include the distribution of financial grants to the tune of Rs 155 crore to 8,000 Namghars. The distribution of financial grants is being done under the Assam Darshan programme.
The finance minister also mentioned that Shah will also lay the foundation stones for the development of ‘Batadrava Than’ in Nagaon, Assam.
