The Ministry of Culture, Assam, has nominated prominent author Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi for the Sukaphaa Award, 2020.
The Sukapha award which is given every three years since 2011, will be presented to the eminent writer on the occasion of Central Sukapha Day, which will be held at Maran, Dibrugarh on December 2.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will confer the award to the prominent author.
The award includes Rs. three lakhs in cash as well as a commendation letter.
It is to be noted that Yeshe Dorjee Thongshi was awarded the Padma Shri award by the Government of India in 2020. He was also awarded the Sahitya Academy Award for his novel “Mouno Oth Mukhar Hriday” in 2005.
The author’s other novel “Mouno Oth Mukhar Hriday” has already been translated into English, Bengali, Hindi, Boro, and Nepali.
