Assamese Resident Returning from UK Tests Positive for COVID-19

A resident of Assam who recently returned from the United Kingdom (UK) has been tested positive for COVID-19.

However, it is not sure yet whether the patient has been infected with the new strain of COVID-19 or not.

The sample of the patient has been sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune for verification.

“Alert has been raised in India following the emergence of new variant of COVID. A person who has returned from Britain has been found positive in Assam. The sample of the patient has been sent to National Institute of Virology in Pune for verification,” Assam health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
