Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of Welcome Gate at the historic Howli town in Barpeta district.
Minister of State Cultural Affairs Naba Kumar Doley, CM Assam Media Advisor Hrishikesh Goswami, MLA Gunindra Nath Das, Chairman of Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) Jayanta Malla Baruah, and many other dignitaries were present during the ceremony.
The Welcome gate will be constructed by Assam Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. (ATDC) at an estimated cost of Rs. 40 lakhs.

The politician also inaugurated the newly constructed Swahid Bedi in memory of martyrs of the Assam Movement and Chandi Baruah Bhawan at Howly.

Barpeta is a historical town, a place of religious importance, and a tourist hotspot.
