With the 2021 assembly elections inching closer, the Assam Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday confirmed that it would continue its alliance with Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) for the upcoming elections.
Health Minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday stated that BJP will continue their alliance with the AGP. However, Sarma made it clear that the party will be very strict with the candidature of seats for the elections.
“BJP and AGP will fight the election together but we will only allow those candidates to contest elections who will win the seats from their respective constituencies. We won’t let anyone contest the election whose image is not that good among the people irrespective of which party he belongs to. If the candidates have chances of winning the seats only then we will allow them to contest in the election,” the health minister said.
