The ruling party, which has promised to eradicate corruption during the elections, has repeatedly been embroiled in scandals. The promise made by Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to lead the scheme without any corruption was not fulfilled.
On December 2, several poor women complained that despite having widows, unmarried and divorced women in their households, they did not enjoy the benefits of the scheme.
Similarly, the Modi led government has been embroiled in a horrific scandal over the Krishi Sanman Nidhi Scheme. In the home district of Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, 30,524 fraud farmers have been caught. Under the Krishak Nidhi scheme, each farmer earns Rs. 6,000 per annum in three instalments of Rs. 2,000 per annum.
A total of 2,331 fraud farmers in Sivasagar and 4,867 farmers in the Charaideu district have been caught for caring out fraudulent activities in the name of the scheme.
Therefore, an application has been filed in the Guwahati High Court for a high-level inquiry into the scandal of the Krishi Sanman Nidhi Scheme.
