Keeping the upcoming Assembly elections in mind, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while presenting the first paperless Union Budget for the year 2021 on Monday announced that Rs. 34,000 crore has been allocated for road projects across Assam.
A total of Rs. 19,000 crore has been released by the central government for the construction of roads and national highways in the state. A total of 1300 kilometres of highway construction is set to be done in Assam in the next three years.
In addition, the finance minister also allocated Rs 65,000 crore for road and highway projects in Kerala and Rs 25,000 crore for West Bengal in the budget 2021.
