Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has sanctioned the construction of the major bridge over the Brahmaputra. The bridge will connect Majuli island with Jorhat.
The much-awaited construction work has been awarded to M/S UP State Bridge Corporation Ltd.
The project has been sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs. 925.47 crores. As informed by the Ministry, the length of the bridge will be 8 km. The construction period is set to four years.
This project is being taken up to fulfill the long-awaited demand of local public. It will provide connectivity between Jorhat and Kamlawari ghat of Majuli island.
Taking to Twitter, Road Ministry informed, “MoRTH has sanctioned for construction of a major bridge over river Brahmaputra to connect Majuli island in Assam amounting to Rs 925 crore. The work has been awarded to M/s UP state Bridge Corporation Ltd. Construction period is four years. Length of project is 8 km.”
