Guwahati: Chief Minister asserted that the state has seen a lot of positive changes since the present state governed assumed power in 2016 and a spirit of competitiveness has grown among the people to excel in today’s world while defeating all subversive designs of vested interest groups to break the age-old unity and harmony among different communities. The police stations of the state have been transformed under the MOITRI scheme so that they can provide security to public in a better way while tackling the modern-day menace of cybercrimes, he said.
Chief Minister inaugurated the newly constructed building of Lumding police station under the Mission for Overall Improvement for Responsive Image (MOITRI) scheme.
Sonowal also registered that police personnel of the state has shown a great example of social responsibility by going beyond their normal duty to donate plasma for COVID 19 patients and provide essential commodities to the needy people during the lockdown period. Assam Police must deliver their services with utmost sincerity and honesty while also staying prepared to work round the clock during the difficult times, he said.
Sonowal also highlighted considerable progress achieved by the state in realizing the Prime Minister’s vision of Atmanirbhar India and said that lots of successes have been attained by the state government to root out corruption from the system. He also stressed on the need to observe all COVID 19 protocols by all to contain the spread of the virus.
MLAs Shibu Misra, Siladitya Deb, Rupak Sarma, Dimbeswar Das, Chairman of Assam Chamber of Commerce Rupam Goswami, DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta were also present at the programme among others.
Later, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of a fish market to be built with untied funds of the state government at Lumding.
