Assam has witnessed a steep spike in COVID-19 cases recently. In order to take stock of the situation in the state, a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal was held at the Brahmaputra Guest House in Guwahati. Health Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma, Director General of Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, Chief Secretary of Assam Jishnu Baruah and many important government officials were present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, in a press conference tomorrow, the Chief Secretary and the DGP based on today’s meeting will issue some guidelines to deal with the latest COVID-19 situation in the state.
CM Sonowal after the meeting spoke to the media where he did not rule out the possibility of another lockdown in the state. Noting that the people will have to be careful in order to avoid the situation of another lockdown, the CM said, “The people will have to follow the government’s policy guidelines to deal with the situation. It is our main responsibility to protect every person of Assam from COVID-19. “
The CM also called for wearing masks, social distancing, hand sanitizing.
