Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday while addressing the media at Janata Bhawan, Guwahati said that a total of 18.20 lakhs beneficiaries of the state will be benefitted under the Orunodoi Scheme.
During the press conference, the minister stated, “18.20 lakhs beneficiary will be benefitted under the scheme in 29 districts excluding Bodoland Territorial Area District (BTAD). Beneficiaries from the BTAD area has been excluded because of the ‘model code of conduct’
The total people benefitted from this scheme and will receive a fund for the month of November on Tuesday with the opening of the scheme.”
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday will formally launch the Orunodoi scheme at Amingaon Parade Ground.
The Finance Minister further announced that a total of 17.60 lakh accounts have already been activated and the remaining 60,000 accounts have been revalidated. He also informed that an Orunodoi call center has been established through which the beneficiary will be able to attain all the necessary information.
All the beneficiaries will receive a total sum of Rs. 830 per month divided as Rs. 400 for medicine, Rs. 200 for 5 kilograms of lentils (Dal), Rs. 80 for sugar (at the cost of 50 percent) and the remaining Rs. 150 for fruits and other such items. Rice will be given free to the beneficiaries of the Orunodoi Scheme by the State government.
Beneficiaries will receive the amount at the end of the month on the 26th of every month.
