CM Sonowal Visits Barpeta Flood Relief Camp; Reviews Flood Situation

News Desk: Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday visited embankment of Pahumara river at Gahinpara near Pathsala of Barpeta district. Due to ceaseless rain, the embankment was breached. He took stock of the flood situation and also reviewed the relief and repair work being carried out.

CM Sonowal was accompanied by BJP state president Ranjit Kumar Dass and Water Resource Minister Keshab Mahanta. He also visited the relief camp set up by the government at Dakhin Barpeta Vidyamandir High School.

On July 20, Assam CM tweeted, “The recent breach of Pahumara river embankment at Gahinpara near Pathsala has flooded the area causing huge damage. Repair and relief works are being carried out now on a war footing. Inspected the site today with colleagues @keshab_mahanta & @RanjeetkrDass.”

 

 

In another tweet, he stated, “Met flood-affected people at the relief camp set up by the Govt at Dakshin Barpeta Vidyamandir High School. All necessary relief measures, including quality food, drinking water, and medicines, are being provided to the people taking shelter there.”
