Colleges In Assam To Reopen From November 2

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday announced the reopening of schools and undergraduate colleges from November 2.

The Education Minister forwarded guidelines for reopening Engineering, Polytechnic and Undergraduate colleges:
1. Staggered timetable must be followed and the final decision will be taken by the college authority.
2. Classes for UG First semester will be held on Monday and Thursday.
3. Classes for UG Third semester will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.
4. Students of the UG Fifth semester will have classes on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.
5. All teaching and non-teaching staff can attend to their duties regularly.
6. Attendance of students shall not be enforced and their presence will be based on parental consent.
7. Use of masks by students, teachers, and all staff members is mandatory. Through sanitization of the premises is mandatory.

The college authority on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday must arrange classes in a systematic manner to avoid crowding on the college campus. Each class will be allowed to accommodate only 20-25 students.
Students who cannot attend classes in their respective colleges can attend online classes.
Postgraduate (PG) classes will follow the guidelines of the Parent University or UGC.
However, hostels will remain closed for atleast the first one month.
