All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary in-charge of Assam Jitendra Singh on Friday clarified that Congress will not form an alliance with any party for the 2021 Assam Assembly elections.
Speaking to media person at Hotel Grandway Grandeur in Guwahati, the General Secretary mentioned that so far no party has formed an alliance with Congress. However, the final decision regarding the formation of the alliance will be taken by the party high command.
He also added that he will discuss the matter with high party officials and will submit the final report to AICC.
This statement came at a time when the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has already initiated alliance talk with All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and many left parties for the formation of a “Grand Alliance” for the 2021 election. The comment by Singh has brought uncertainty into the “Grand Alliance” formation.
