Dhemaji Mishap: 2 Dead Bodies Recovered; Driver Still Missing

News Desk: Today the joint team of SDRF and NDRF personnel recovered the menacing car which drowned in Geluwa river in Assam’s Dhemaji district on Thursday. The joint rescue team recovered two dead bodies from a Hyundai i-10 car with registration AS 07 F 2164, which had fallen into the river at Sisiborgaon in Dhemaji district.

According to a report, five people were in the car when it fell into the Geluwa river. As soon as the car fell, it was swallowed up by the river.

Locals were able to rescue two persons who were identified as Sabitri Kalita and elder daughter Riki Kalita.

The rescue teams were able to locate the dead bodies of Tankeswar Kalita and younger daughter Kuki Kalita. However, the driver Manoranjan Kalita is still missing. The rescue team has been continuing its efforts to track down the missing driver.

The family was heading to Silsapathar to attend a marriage when the mishap took place.

According to police, Tankeswar Kalita was a Havaldar of 13th APPBN and was posted at Lilabari, Lakhimpur district.

The mother and daughter, who were in serious condition were admitted to the Primary Health Centre of Sisiborgaon. Later, they were sent to Dibrugarh for better treatment.
