‘Dhing Express’ Turns 21, CM Sonowal Conveys Best Regards

Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday wished sprinter Hima Das on her birthday.

Often referred to as ‘Dhing Express’, Hima Das hails from Dhing in Nagaon District, Assam. She turned 21 this year. Born in 2000 to a farmer family, Hima Das has already reached many milestones with her absolute will and talent.

The ace athlete is now preparing for the Tokyo Olympics. On her birthday she took to Twitter saying that birthday is no reason for ceasing training.
“Birthday is no reason for me to stop training. Always focussed on my goals and dreams!´, the spinster wrote.

CM Sonowal on Saturday morning had a telephonic conversation with the athlete on the occasion of her birthday.
“Conveyed my best wishes to ace athlete @HimaDas8 over the telephone on the occasion of her birthday. Also congratulated Assam’s sprint queen for qualifying for Tokyo Olympics, 2021.” the CM wrote on Twitter.

The Olympic Council of Asia also wished the sprinted best wishes on her birthday sharing a video of the 2018 Asian Games Track event where Hima Das won a Gold medal.

The sprinter now holds the National record in the 400-meter track category (50.79 seconds). Earlier the former National Record was 51.05 seconds by Manjeet Kaur.
