Finally, all the speculations surrounding the post of the Chief Minister of Assam have come to an end. Northeast Democratic Alliance (NEDA) Convenor Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has been chosen as the next Chief Minister of Assam. The experienced politician who has been leading the state as the commander-in-chief for the past 20 years has finally been entrusted with the top post of the state.
Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will take oath as the 15th Chief Minister of the state on Monday.
The decision was taken at the BJP legislature party meeting held at the Assam Assembly campus today.
The development comes after BJP’s massive success in the Assam assembly elections which can be attributed mostly to Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. Sarma’s efficient handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state has also played an important role in the decision.
