Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi on Thursday has suspended Vice-Chancellor Ranjit Tamuli for ‘Financial Fraud’.
He was suspended from the Vice-Chancellor post after a committee found him to be involved in financial anomalies of funds. Earlier, a four-member committee was constituted to probe the alleged financial anomalies and improper use of public funds by Ranjit Tamuli.
The committee constituted of Preetom Saikia (State Commissioner and Secretary), Upper Assam Commissioner Moloy Bora, and two scientific officers from the State Directorate of Forensic Science Rajiv Sensua and Israphil Musahari.
Professor RNS Yadav has been temporarily handed over the Vice-Chancellor post of Dibrugarh University.
The probe conducted by the high-level inquiry committee focused on:
Financial transaction and financial administration, corruptions, discipline, misuse of funds, misuse of powers among other aspects of University Governance”.
Earlier, Dibrugarh University registrar Hari Chandra Mahanta and deputy registrar (finance and accounts) Diganta Borah were suspended for their alleged involvement in the financial anomalies in the University.
