Durga Puja Protocols: 50 People Allowed in Puja Mandaps, No Pillion Riding

Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while addressing a press meet at Janata Bhawan laid down the COVID-19 protocols to be followed for the upcoming Durga Puja.

The protocols state that the puja committees will have to take the permission of the Deputy Commissioners. In addition, pandals should be open and there should be a separate gate for entry and exit. The use of hand sanitizers is necessary for all the Puja Mandaps.

According to the guidelines issued, only 50 people will be allowed in the Puja Mandaps. Immersion rally/Procession will not be allowed. Also, volunteers and pujaris should be tested during Panchami and Dashami puja. The Puja Mandap should be closed at 10.pm every day.

No pillion riding for males, however, females will be allowed.

Cultural functions will be prohibited this year and all the restaurants should close by 9 p.m.
