Former Assam Sahitya Sabha (ASS) President Paramananda Rajbonshi will join the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) on Tuesday at the party headquarter in Ambari, Guwahati.
Rajbonshi initially served as the General Secretary of the supreme literary body and in the year 2017, he was elected as the President of the Sabha. In 2014, Rajbonshi sparked a controversy when he contested for the General Secretary’s post, despite being the Vice-President.
The Vice-President post is considered as a higher post compared to General Secretary in the Sahitya Sabha.
The Assam Sahitya Sabha founded in December 1917 is a non-government and non-profit literary organization of Assam. It promotes Assamese literature and the rich culture of the state.
In July 2019, the Sahitya Sabha formed another branch named ‘Singapore Sahitya Sabha’ in Singapore.
