Prominent filmmaker Jahnu Barua during a press release on Thursday announced that he will be direct a Hindi film based on the legendary Ahom General Lachit Borphukon.
The film will be produced by Guwahati based Dream House (DH) Productionz along with other top production houses of the country.
Work on the film has already begun under the guidance of Prof J N Phukan (Former History H.O.D, Guwahati University) and is expected to be released by late 2022. The film will cast a leading actor of the country as the Ahom General.
The film will be produced by industrialist Suresh Sharma.
The National Film award winner said, “For well over 20 years, I have been living with this dream of doing a film on my favorite war-hero Lachit. There were a number of government initiatives to this effect, including proposals from two former governors, but because of budgetary constraints the production of such a mega project could not be taken up.”
The filmmaker also thanked Suresh Sharma for supporting him in all possible ways to make the dream mega project a reality. Suresh Kumar is the Managing Director of Satyam Group of Industries and is also involved with DH Productionz.
The movie is estimated to be the costliest film ever made in Assam.
