News Desk: Dr. PK Sarma became the first person to expire due to Coronavirus in Tinsukia district. The death audit reports declared the death of Dr. Sarma was due to COVID-19. His mortal remains were brought from AMCH, Dibrugarh to Tinsukia.
Dr. Sarma was a senior doctor hailing from Tinsukia of Upper Assam. He expired on July 16, 2020, a day after he was admitted in critical condition. The deceased doctor was tested positive for COVID-19 on July 15, 2020.
Due to the fear of COVID, no person willingly came forward to perform the last rituals of the deceased doctor. Eventually, volunteers of Pratirodhi Bondhu came forward to give the due respect and performed the last rites of the reputed doctor. The volunteers carried the body of the doctor to the crematorium and performed his final rites with full dignity and respect following all the norms of COVID-19.
The Pratirodi Bondhu volunteers are actively involved in fighting COVID-19 in the Tinsukia district. The Tinsukia District Administration is highly grateful to the volunteers for their ultimate service to the community.
The number of COVID-19 positive cases in Tinsukia district inflated to 414 after the detection of 41 COVID-19 positive cases on Wednesday.
