News Desk: Incessant rainfall since last three days in Assam due to flood occurred in District-Goalpara, Assam. Flood situation created due to overflowing the Rivers Brahmaputra and Krishnai. This flood has disturbed the life of locals. Immediately, a team of 1st Battalion NDRF reached in flood-affected Village-Hawra Ghat under revenue circle-Matia, District-Goalpara, Assam, and evacuated 56 marooned villagers and transported them to safer places. Besides teams are also assisting district administration in distribution of mask, screening inundated areas and maintained proper social distancing due to COVID-19 emergency. More than 1450 marooned villagers evacuated this monsoon season by 1st Battalion NDRF Guwahati.
12 search & rescue teams of NDRF are pre-positioned deployed in Assam i.e. Jorhat, Bongaigaon, Kamrup Metro, Dhubri, Barpeta, Goalpara, Golaghat, Cachar, Sivasagar, Sonitpur, Dhemaji and Tinsukia Besides four search & rescue teams of NDRF earmarked for tackle the flood situation. NDRF control room keeping close watch in other flood-affected areas.
On the development of flood situation, Shri Randhir Singh Gill, Commandant 1st NDRF Guwahati, said in a statement, “NDRF is always standby for the affected people at the time of need. Now People need to maintain social distancing and use of mask, sanitizer, and proper handwashing in COVID-19 situation”.
