The ‘Gateway to North-East India’, Guwahati city gets its first-ever Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) approved football turf and sports complex.
The artificial football turf named, ‘Game On Arena’ located at Beharbari, Kerakuchi Tiniali was inaugurated on Sunday.
It was built with the intention to boost Grassroots Football infrastructure in the state and also to provide world-class and safe facilities for the kids. The football arena came to life due to the joint venture of father-son duo Hiren Barman and Jiten Barman. The venture was brought to life by the Manager and Sports Management IIM graduate, Sajad Siddique with the intention to take forward his vision of grassroots development in the field of sports.
Leading Lighting company, Kritron also helped in making the dream come true and bringing the turf to world standards. The turf will also be used for recreational purposes with subsidized rates.
The football turf was ceremonially inaugurated by the President of Sports Journalists’ Federation of India (SJFI), Subodh Malla Barua.
N.F. Railways Coach Kamalakanta Loitongbam, the Co-Founders of Guwahati City Football Club (GCFC) Siddhartha Sankar Deka, Kaustab Chakraborty, and Darick Ranjan Deka were the other dignitaries present at the ceremony.
An Under-9 (U9) exhibition match between GCFC Academy and Kaziranga Football Academy (KFA) was also held during the inauguration ceremony.
