Major General Ananta Bhuyan, (Additional Director General, NCC Directorate, NER) along with various other dignitaries on Sunday morning flagged off the launch ride of Bi-Cycle rent service “Aroha Bi-Cycles at Dighali Pukhuri, Guwahati on 3rd January 2020.
The ‘Team Aroha’ is founded by Guwahati based four students, however, the team is led by volunteers and cycle enthusiasts. Team Aroha came up with a new idea of public bicycle sharing and renting service in Guwahati. Its main aim is to make bicycles the preferred mode of transportation in the city.
People can rent bicycles from Aroha on an hourly, weekly, and monthly basis at a minimal price.
Initially, people can rent bicycles from Uzan Bazar and Ganeshguri Aroha stations, however, door to door delivery service is an option. The city bicycle service provider plans on upgrading bicycles to smart bicycles with GPS enabled lock system.
To mark this initiative, Aroha Team organized the launch ride at Dighali Pukhuri on Sunday and more than 100 cyclists and NCC cadets joined the bicycle ride.
The co-founder of the Aroha Bi-Cycle service include:
1. Prabal Dev Bhuyan, Research Scholar, Department of Physics, Gujarat University, Ahmedabad.
2. Shasanaka Dev Bhuyan, Research Scholar, Department of Mathematics, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra.
3. Bhargav Deka, Master of Business Administration (MBA), Gauhati University, Guwahati.
4. Rupak Ranjan Kalita, Master of Business Administration (MBA), Gauhati Commerce College, Guwahati.
