Actress and politician of Assam Angoorlata Deka on Sunday announced that the government has taken the decision to construct five new premises of Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakhetra at different locations of India.
The MLA from Assam made the statement at a press conference on Sunday and also stated that all the official chores of the museum will be done in the Assamese language. The official site of the Kalakhetra museum will also get revamped and hopes that the new format will attract the young generation.
For the first time, a bronze statue of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva will be constructed at Kalakhetra museum, Panjabari, Assam.
The five new premises will be constructed at New Delhi, Dibrugarh, Diphu, Silchar, and Kokrajhar, just like the Guwahati Kalakhetra museum, all the other museums will showcase the rich culture and diversity of Assamese culture.
It has been decided that all the official work will be done in the Assamese language starting from January 1, 2021.
The actress also stated that the museum will reopen from Monday following strict COVID-19 protocols.
